'King' dethroned
Sentence in bribery case brings down high-flying plaintiffs' attorney

After infamous plaintiffs' attorney Richard "Dickie" Scruggs was disbarred and sentenced in federal court June 27 to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine for attempting to bribe a judge, some must be asking: Why would a man who has built a multibillion-dollar empire by bringing down Goliath industries in court risk everything for a relatively small sum of money?
